Brooke Newmaster, Chang Mi Artistic Director
Brooke Jee In Newmaster, Chang Mi’s artistic director and instructor, has been a performing member of Chang Mi since 1984.
Brooke offers a variety of classes at her studio, the Korean Heritage House. Brooke began teaching dance at Korean culture camps in 1992 and became Chang Mi’s teacher in 1997. She has received two Minnesota State Arts Board Folk Arts Apprenticeship Grants to study Korean traditional dance and drum.
Currently Brooke studies dance and drum in Seoul, Korea with Yang, Gil Soon and also studies drum with Yoo, In Sang at the Korean Traditional Music and Percussion Institute PAN in Seoul. Brooke performs with Chang Mi and individually. She presents programs on Korean culture, dance and drum to a wide variety of groups.
